About Me

I crave the challenge of capturing that signature image or decisive moment . It's what keeps me shooting. That wasn't always the case, I started out a very shy, quiet kid and it was pencil and paper I reached for far before I picked up a camera. I eventually started drawing editorial cartoons and writing columns at my college newspaper. That's where I picked up my colleagues' Pentax and subsequently fell in love with photography.
I draw inspiration from different types of artist from photographers to painters but the person whose career and life I admire most is Gordon Parks--not only for the range of his photographic work but the breadth of his achievements. So that's my photographic view in a nutshell.

Ok. This is a small revelation--I've had this website for about 5 years. In that time, I've designed, redesigned and updated this thing numerous times, all in the name of staying current, fresh and just being creative (though I really hate the whole process).

The 4th Annual
Darnell Wilburn Scholarship

So everything went off without a hitch. The winners were Ryelle Dixon and Mikela Woolfork. Both of whom submitted excellent essays and won praise from their mentor [TA]. I'd like to congratulate them again on participating. Especially considering that they had to find time between completing their current course work and juggling other obligations. I'd like to say thank you to Tempest Alexander, who also submitted a stellar essay but just fell short and if I could, would have awarded her to. This acknowledgement isn't much but hopefully you'll continue to do good things.
